- Show Superintendent may hold an open breeding show and a junior
breeding show.
- Show Superintendent will allow juniors to participate in both shows.
- Show Superintendent may allow a junior show that includes a junior
breeding and market show.
- Wether and doe kids will be allowed to be co-exhibited in the junior
breeding and market show classes.
- Show Superintendent will weigh all market animals and divide them
into classes. There will be no minimum or maximum number of animals per
class. Class size will be determined by weight in order to insure that
weight disparity is as fair to exhibitors as possible. There will be no
maximum number or minimum number of classes. The number of weight
classes will be determined by weight breaks, regardless of how large or
small the classes are. Priority is to provide maximum equity for all
exhibitors.
- Show Superintendent may allow for the following schedule of classes
in each show division.
- BUCK CLASSES in open or junior shows:
Kids (no breaking of skin or eruption of either of two permanent front
teeth)
Yearlings (two tooth)
Two Year Olds (four tooth)
Aged (six tooth or older)
- DOE CLASSES in open or junior shows:
Kids (no breaking of skin or eruption of either of two permanent front
teeth)
Yearlings (two tooth)
Two Year Olds (four tooth)
Aged (six tooth or older)
- GRAND & RESERVE CHAMPION will be selected from both does and bucks.
- SPECIAL CLASSES FOR OPEN BREEDING SHOWS
Best pair of Kids, both sexes represented (tooth rule previously
stated)
Best pair of Yearlings, both sexes represented (tooth rule previously
stated)
Breeders herd: one buck, one doe (two or four tooth), two kids (both
or either sexes)
- MARKET SHOW CLASSES
Market Kids, either sex (no breaking of skin or eruption of either of
two permanent front teeth)
Grand Champion Market Kid
Reserve Champion Market Kid
Show Superintendent will set the following special rules:
- AGE: no breaking of skin or eruption of either of two permanent front
teeth. Milk teeth must be in place.
- HORNS: Exhibitors will be required to have horns tipped on all goats
prior to arrival on the grounds. Dehorning is acceptable.
- HAIR: Market goats must be slick shorn with 3/8" of hair or less at the
time of arrival.
- WEIGHT: There will be no top weight limit.
- RESTRAINTS: Exhibitors will be allowed to use halters or collars in the
show ring.
- SHOWMANSHIP: Exhibitors will not lift front legs of goats off of the
ground or brace the animal during examination by the judge.
- EXHIBITORS: In the event of behavior deemed rude, disrespectful, or un-sportsman
like in the ring, to a judge or another exhibitor: the exhibitor shall
be given one verbal warning to cease and desist such behavior
immediately. A warning from the show superintendent is considered to be
sufficient. The superintendent shall report the offence to the AMGA
President by telephone, followed by a letter detailing the offence.
>From the date of the first offence, the exhibitor shall be on probation,
regarding his show premises behavior, for one calendar year. No repeat
of such behavior shall be tolerated. A second offence shall result in
suspension from exhibiting for one year from the date of the offence.
At the end of the year, the exhibitor shall be allowed to resume
exhibiting his or her goats in sanctioned shows. If a third incident of
poor showmanship or disrespectful behavior occurs after the one-year
suspension, the exhibitor shall be permanently prohibited from
exhibiting in sanctioned AMGA shows, and AMGA membership shall be
revoked.
